All of my email comes with a lot of header text. If I click BLAH BLAH BLAH, I get a lot more header text.
Is there a way to minimize the default amount of text I am seeing on incoming email? In a perfect world, all I want to see is: Date, To, From, CC and Subject. Here's a typical one from a cell I think. Yes.
Eudora - Prefs -> Boring Headers. (You might have to turn on the esoteric settings, I forget. Finder -> Get Info on Eudora icon and turn on the Plug-in for Esoteric Settings.) HOWEVER, there are two problems I've encountered. 1. The font used to display the headers to hide is different from font used to enter them. This results in you typing stuff where you didn't intend. The work-around for this is to be sure you've used the arrow keys to get to the top or bottom, before typing, don't just click and start typing. 2. There is a limit on how much you can enter. At some point I could no longer enter any headers to remove. I could tell if too many headers to hide were specified because the email would go totally blank. #2 is especially sad because it seems some vendors exist to create additional headers in emails, like a form of advertising (ahem MS), to get their name in your face as often as possible. I agree with your general gist. There are just a few headers I would like to see, and the rest, if I care to see, can be seen with the blah button. That would have been a better approach IMHO instead of having us specify which ones to hide. There seem to have been a flood of new headers these past ten years. The good news is Eudora 8 seems to take that approach, of just showing the basics, and hiding the rest, unless you want to see the blah. The bad news is Eudora 8 isn't quite ready for prime time. |

I don't really think it's a matter of what I say. Eudora on my machine won't change no matter how I try to sweet talk her.
I think this is all I could fit. On more than one occasion in the past I tried to enter more headers, but upon returning to the email, hit the blah3 button twice and my email disappeared. I even tested it again a few minutes ago. When I add one more line, the font of the last few old headers, turns to another font, and it starts to freak out. Opening the Boring Headers prefs again, the most recent item is not visible and there are two blank lines at the end of the list. Nothing to do, but delete those blank lines and get used to looking at these wacko headers. I am excited about the prospects of the new Eudora and am very eager for progress. ![]() Here they are for your use. Try the whole list and see what happens when you add another one. I probably even tried (but don't recall), pasting them in. Now please pardon this stretch of seriously boring headers. Code:

ACBairnsfather, you can reduce the list substantially and still get the benefits of hiding.
One line with: X- will block all headers starting with X- . The same with List or any other headers that have common prefixes. |

Excellent. Thank you. Somehow I overlooked that.

Here is my list, This seems to take care of "almost" header I don't want to see.

You can reduce it further with a single List-

I looked through the X-Eudora-Headers list, but didn't find any that worked. The two closest don't have noticeable effect.
Code:
<x-eudora-setting:123> When checked, Eudora will show all the headers from messages, not just an abbreviated set. Code:
<x-eudora-setting:163> When checked, Eudora will nicely line up mail headers. |
