Default Help - lost out messages from a mailbox

Please be patient while I try to describe my problem. If I am asking in the wrong area, please direct me to the right destination.

I had a little problem sending a message. I saw it sitting on my screen in the mailbox I use for my most important messages.

In the header line the first column contains a blue ball. I have never understood what it was called, but I could tell that it signaled me with actions taken or not taken. Unread, sent, etc.

The message that I was concerned about showed a tiny blue ball. I thought I would see if I could find definitions if I hovered over the ball in the header line or lright clicked the ball on the header line. I'm not sure if I left clicked by mistake, but all(?) my message in this mailbox that had a check mark appeared. I closed that window and it seems that I lost all my out messages, my very important out messages for this mailbox that were sitting in that mailbox(?). These were not messages in the Eudora OUT mailbox.. I had set up a filter to send my Out messages related to this mailbox to the same mailbox containing my In message for this same mailbox. Call it 'books'

There doesn't seem to be anything in Trash and nothing that relate to the above in the Eudora default Out box.

I then used Find of all mailboxes to see if I could retrieve the only out message I could remember (in my panic). Nothing came up.

What did I do by clicking the blue ball at the top of the first column of the Eudora screen? Are these messages hiding? Not lost. Please help me. I want to stay positive, but am feeling ruined.

Do Eudora Tech people look in on this forum or are we all on our own? Are there Eudora tech people?

This may be the first time in 3 years that I have come here - so I don't know how anything works here since Eudora stopped offering the paid version which is what I had when they stopped offering it.

I am despearate. I am not a wiz at the interior structure of Eurdora to look for them on their own. I'm even afraid to close down Eudora for the night?

Can someone help? Advise? Recommend? Thanks. I am using 7.0.1.0 Paid mode (historically) and XP.2 Home.

Don't panic, you haven't lost anything.

Clicking on a header in a mailbox sorts the messages in a certain way. In your case you have them sorted by "status".

Click on the "Date" header to see the messages sorted by date. When you right-click you have a choice between ascending, descending or none. When you select ascending the most recent messages will be at the bottom.

To better understand how mailboxes work I suggest that you read the user manual, starting at page 140. You can download it from http://www.eudora.com/download/

Are there Eudora tech people?
Many vendors set up forums, primarily for users to help each other.
This takes the burden off their own tech support,
and is much cheaper, as well as covering everyone,
not just those who pay for tech support (which no one currently does :)

Very experienced users are perfectly able to help non-techies,
so the fact that "Classic" Eudora no longer has any vendor
developers or tech support seems to be no barrier
to getting high quality support right here,
even if from people who aren't paid :)

All versions 4.3 through 7.1 still have a "paid" mode,
and what's basically changed since April 2007
is only that you no longer have to pay :)

You can install 7.1 over an older version.
Do not uninstall the older version, just install over it.
This is to keep your "X1" feature; you would not lose anything else anyway,
except for this feature, but presumably you would want to keep that.
