Default Minimize Eudora Window

Hi all

I'm using Vista Home and I installed the recent version of Eudora one month ago. All applications on my laptop are working fine, also Eudora - except one detail:
When I minimize the Eudora Window (by using the "X" on the upper right corner of the Eudora window), the Window is removed as expected but Eudora is removed from the Task Bar aas well! It looks like Eudora had been closed - but I can't open it any more. When I click on the Eudora Icon nothing happens.

- In the Task-Manager Eudora is not in the application list any more, but in the process list "Eudora.exe" is still available.

- When I close this "Eudora.exe" using the Task-Manager, I can open Eudora again.

- When I minimize Eudora by using the right mouse button on the task bar (instead of using the "X" on the upper right corner of the Eudora window), it works fine! In that way I can maximize and minimize the Eudora window without any problems.

- I never got any error message, so I think Eudora not really crashes

Ideas how to fix the problem?

Philipp

Clicking the "X" in the uper right corner closes any Windows program. Use the "-" instead.

Sorry, the "X" closes Eudora, off course. I meant the "-" button to minimize the window. On my laptop this "-" button removes Eudora from the application list as if Eudora had been closed - but it remains in the process list.

Does any other application behave that way?
If not, you might try reinstalling the Eudora application.

Default Did you "Minimize Eudora to the System Tray"?

Quoting from using the "?" tool on this "Display" option:

"Turn this option on to display Eudora as an icon in the system tray
when minimized, instead of in the Windows Taskbar."

If so, just click the "tray" icon (near the clock, grouped with other icons)
and choose "Open Eudora" to return the focus to Eudora.

If you have trouble with this,
close Eudora, open Eudora.ini, and find:

ShowOnlyInTray=1

You can disable the option
either by changing "1" to "0" or by deleting that line.

Thank you jhmeyers,

Tools -> Options -> Display -> "Minimize Eudora to the system tray"
This option is disabled now and it works.
